Bloom Forge

AI Drafting.AI for Fabrication.

In beta. Requires Windows and an internet connection.

Bloom Forge is a plugin for Rhino 7, 8 and 9. You work in a chat beside the model, and you check and release every fabrication drawing.

AI Drafting

Select parts in Rhino and ask for fabrication drawings of laser-cut plates, press-brake parts, profiles, timber or assemblies. Each drawing is checked against a set of drafting rules, and the faults that can be fixed automatically are fixed.

AI for Fabrication

For sheet metal, the chat models the part in Rhino from a STEP model, a section or a description with dimensions. Unfolding uses the K-factor tables your company fills in per material, and it stops and says so if no value fits.

Style and Family

Style

A Style is your in-house drawing standard, derived from sample drawings of your own for you to review. Your drawing template is made separately from your own title block.

Family

A Family is a group of parts made the same way, identified by part number prefix. It sets the material and finish options, K-factor table and hole rule, and has a Style assigned to it.

What happens after a request

  1. You ask in the chat. “Model these brackets from the STEP file in our bracket Family.”
  2. The bent sheet metal parts are modelled in Rhino and take the next part numbers in the Family.
  3. Each part is unfolded with the K-factors of the Family, drawn in the assigned Style and checked against the drafting rules.
  4. You check the fabrication drawing, release it and export PDF, DXF, DWG or STEP.

Series

Parts modelled on rail lines are grouped by length and end cut and numbered, and identical parts are counted. Production lists go to Excel.

Corrections in the chat

Many corrections can be made in the chat, for example “Put the overall width above the plan” or “Change this view to 1:5”. An edit that makes the drawing clearly worse against the drafting rules is refused.

Rhino 7, 8 and 9

Bloom Forge is a plugin for Rhino on Windows. Finished drawings are Rhino geometry and annotation on named layers, and any Rhino seat can open and edit them.
